Circle Equation

Introduction

In algebra you should recall that the equation of a line is $y=mx+b$ . You should also recall quadtaric equations such as $\left ( ax+b \right )\left ( cx+d \right )$ and had to sovle for x.

The Circle

The quation for a circle is:
$(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2$

Where the center of the circle is at the point $(h,k)$ and r represents the radius of the circle.

The Sphere

Extending the equation of the cirlce to a sphere in 3D space we get:
$(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2+(z-l)^2=r^2$

Where the center of the sphere is at the 3D point $(h,k,l)$ .
